Prayer for Vocations

This past Sunday was World Day of Prayer for Vocations.  The Holy Father said in his Regina Coeli message:
"In this time too when the Lord’s voice risks being submerged by so many other voices, every ecclesial community is called to promote and safeguard vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated life. Men, in fact, always have need of God, even in our technological world, and there will always be a need for Shepherds who announce the Word and help us to meet the Lord in the sacraments."
Sometimes vocational promotion comes by way of deliberate program or activity, but most of the time it is by a personal relationship with a priest, religious, or lay missionary, who inspires a person to have the courage to open their heart to the Lord's voice.  Many times in the SOLT community this happens as a team, a communion, that a person sees the happiness of living graced friendships in a ecclesial family, and they say, I want somewhere to belong.

May the Church be reinvigorated with new vocations to the priesthood, religious life, lay apostolate, holy living out of the sacrament of matrimony, diaconate, consecrated widowhood, and other vocations to give life to the Church and glory to God.

This prayer is prayed once a day by all SOLT members.

O God, who wills not the death of the sinner but rather that he be converted and live, grant, we beseech Thee through the intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin and all the saints, an increase of laborers for the Church, fellow laborers with Christ to spend and consume themselves for souls through the same Jesus Christ Your Son who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen.
