New SOLT General Priest Servant: Fr Peter Marsalek

Meet newly elected General Priest Servant of the Priests' Society of Apostolic Life, Fr Peter Marsalek, SOLT.

Formerly a semi-pro tennis player and engineer, originally from the Toronto, Canada area, Fr Peter received a Doctorate in Sacred Theology, Summa Cum Laud from the Pontifical University of St Thomas in Rome.  Ordained to the sacred priesthood in 2005 he has already shown extraordinary gifts for formation and administration.

He has served as the coordinator for catechesis of the diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas, President of both, John Paul II High School, and Bishop Garriga Middle School, and most recently, the rector of the SOLT seminary in Detroit, Michigan.

He thanked founder, Fr James Flanagan, for gifting the SOLT charism to the Church and pledged to work with Bishop Mulvey, the SOLT bishop protector, and a vatican appointed canon lawyer to assist SOLT's preparations toward full pontifical approval.

Fr Peter's term will be five years.  His main task will be the ongoing move toward ecclesial and financial structures that are necessary for a formerly small community of diocesan rite, to become worthy of universal service of Holy Mother Church as a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Rite.  His first official act will be to select the priest coordinator for the SOLT laity, the General Lay Servant.

Please pray for Fr Peter Marsalek, and our SOLT community, that we may continue to serve the Church with the charity of humble service, the very heart of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.

Fr Peter Marsalek receives a blessing from SOLT Founder, Fr James Flanagan, shortly after being elected General Priest Servant.
