Addressing Modern Social Issues with the Gospel in Kansas City

An international Catholic community with deep Kansas City roots will present information on its spirituality and approach to addressing modern social issues.
The presentation will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The specific topic to be addressed that day is the dignity and genius of women in God’s plan
The Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) practices a spirituality of discipleship that is based on the relationship of communion between Our Blessed Mother and the Most Holy Trinity. The spirituality is augmented by a community life of prayer and ministry with full participation from every Church member, including priests, sisters, and single and married laity. This spirituality and lifestyle offers a witness to the deep brokenness in modern relationships and in addressing the alienation of women and men from God in the modern era.
The presenter is Sister Anne Marie Walsh, a leader within the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT). The event, including lunch, is free and open to the public. It also includes Mass with Most Reverend James P. Keleher, Archbishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Kansas City, Kansas.  All of the activities will be held at St. James Academy, 24505 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, Kansas 66227.
One of the unique characteristics of SOLT is its ministry in teams that serve all over the world in areas of most pressing need.  There are few such Catholic organizations which encompass all vocations, and where all members have significant responsibility for its works and service.
SOLT was headquartered in Kansas City from 1964 to 1984. During that time, SOLT assisted in the establishment of a number of educational works (DeLaSalle Education Center, Operation Breakthrough), along with migrant and prison ministries (Dismas House), and one of the largest Vietnamese resettlement programs in the country.
Sr. Anne Marie Walsh is a perpetually professed member of SOLT, and has served as the General Sister Servant of the community since 2003. This responsibility includes caring for the
temporal and spiritual needs of the Sisters and those in formation, coordinating efforts in mission and apostolate with the priests and laity of SOLT. Sister is an accomplished speaker and philosopher, and has studied the teachings of Pope Paul VI, Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, Mariology and the Theology of the Body extensively. She was an early administrator of Our Lady’s Montessori School, still operating and now in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
